Roger Stone Told Julian Assange He Was Going to Bat for Him ‘At the Highest Level of Government’

The FBI has released messages between Roger Stone and WikiLeaks found Julian Assange. Stone, who was close to President Donald Trump, told Assange he was lobbying for him at high levels of the U.S. government. Stone acted as a back channel between the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks during the 2016 election.

Stone told Assange in a direct message on Twitter that “as a journalist it doesn’t matter where you get information only that it is accurate and authentic.”

“If the US government moves on you I will bring down the entire house of cards,” Stone told him.

Stone congratulated Assange on the dropping of ‘the trumped-up sexual assault charges’ against him – a reference to charges made by Sweden, which led in part to Assange hiding out in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

“Between CIA and DoJ they’re doing quite a lot. On the DoJ side that’s coming most strongly from those obsessed with taking down Trump trying to squeeze us into a deal,” Assange told Stone.

Stone wrote back that he was work to ‘address the issues at the highest level of Government.’

He has told the Associated Press that ‘there was no illegal activity and certainly no Russian collusion by me during the 2016 election’. However, Stone was convicted of obstructing a Congressional probe into Russian election interference in 2019.
