Fox’s Andrew Napolitano Accuses New Jersey Governor of ‘Felony of Misconduct’ and ‘Impeachable Offense’

Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano has accused the governor of New Jersey of misconduct in office and an impeachable offense. Napolitano was speaking to Fox & Friends on Thursday about Coronavirus restrictions when he angrily accused Democrat Phil Murphy.

Napolitano began by attacking virus containment measures. He’s already criticized some governors for taking steps he thinks violate the Bill of Rights. Though these steps are medically advised and have been implemented throughout the world, the Judge has warned they are an erosion of freedom.

“You know, here in New Jersey, the governor boasts, he boasted to Tucker Carlson last night: the Bill of Rights is above my pay grade,” Napolitano said.

“The Bill of Rights is above your pay grade?” he burst out. “You took a solemn oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States which includes the Bill of Rights.”

“When these governors try to write law rather than enforce law that the legislature has written, they violate the federal constitution. They violate the state constitution. And in the case of Governor Murphy in New Jersey who says the Bill of Rights is above his pay grade, that’s a felony of misconduct in office.”

“It’s an impeachable offense for a governor to either knowingly or negligently to crush civil liberties as these governors have done.”

Governor Murphy won Napolitano’s ire following a Fox News interview on Wednesday night where he said he wasn’t thinking of the Bill of Rights when he implemented social distancing measures that banned religious gatherings. Murphy said he had taken advice from the scientists in an effort to flatten the curve of the Coronavirus.

Napolitano’s accusations stem directly from Tucker Carlson’s repeated attempts to accuse the governor of violating the Bill of Rights.
