‘Today’ Show’s Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker Discuss Working from Home During Coronavirus

The Today show hosts Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie were working from home on Wednesday amid the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic. The NBC show has been affected by the Coronavirus but Today has continued and the hosts discussed this new experience.

“We’re back on a busy Wednesday morning, one not like a normal one here on Today,” Guthrie said. “This show’s been around a long time. Sixty-something years but never has this happened before.”

Co-host Hoda Kotb was in studio but Roker and Guthrie were both in their homes and joining the show by video link.

“I will say, Hoda, this was the shortest commute in the history of the world and I did like that,” Guthrie joked.

Today show regulars Roker and Craig Melvin were pulled off air on Monday, 16 March after a staffer for the show’s third hour tested positive for Coronavirus. Savannah Guthrie decided to work from home on Tuesday, 17 March after exhibiting ‘super mild’ symptoms.

“This is a little Brady Bunch-esque, this is a little funky looking at this three-box,” Kotb said. “But I’m happy to be sitting in between you guys.”

Roker said that he was doing great and that he had the coffee maker going, but also said: “It is very weird, I will admit.”

Guthrie gave an update on how she was feeling and advised that people should ‘love their neighbor’ during this difficult time, while Roker praised the situation that allowed him to work from home as ‘amazing’.
