Trump Abruptly Cancels Today’s Planned Visit to CDC in Atlanta Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

President Donald Trump has unexpectedly cancelled a visit to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia today. The abrupt change in the President’s schedule has not been explained and was being promoted by the White House on Thursday.

Trump will fly to Nashville, Tennessee following the tornado damage there and will then go on to his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida, where he will spend three days and will most likely go golfing. The White House has not answered questions about the change.

“The CDC has been proactive and prepared since the very beginning and the president does not want to interfere with the CDC’s mission to protect the health and welfare of their people and the agency,” a White House official said, confirming the cancellation.

There was immediate negative reaction to the news, with some remarking that Trump seems to be shirking his responsibilities amid the Coronavirus outbreak.

Trump has repeatedly downplayed the risks from the virus and spread disinformation about it but this sudden change in plans seems to be a bad PR move and no reason has yet been given.
