Rachel Maddow Slaps Down Shaun King for Democratic ‘Interference’ Claim’: ‘I Didn’t Report Any Such Thing’

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow responded to Shaun King on Twitter after he falsely claimed that she had reported that senior Democrats were attempting to interfere in the primary process. In reality, she had merely reported that officials were making the case of Michael Bloomberg that he should drop out in the interests of party unity.

“[Maddow] just reported that multiple ‘senior officials’ within the Democratic Party are interfering with the primaries to stop [Sanders],” King tweeted. “They reported that the party has asked Bloomberg to drop out so that Biden would have an easier time against Bernie.”

Maddow responded to King’s tweet by saying: “What? No. I didn’t report any such thing.”

King doubled down, claiming Maddow had in fact reported on Democratic interference in the primaries. However, the video clearly shows Maddow did not report what King claimed.

King has been an outspoken supporter of Senator Bernie Sanders and has been widely criticized for his approach to the primary season. It is highly unusual for Maddow to weigh in like this, but she was clear, both on Twitter and in the segment, that she was not reporting on interference.
