Fox’s Griff Jenkins Calls Pete Buttigieg ‘The Little-Known Mayor From South Bend’

As the New Hampshire Democratic primary began on Tuesday, Fox News’ Griff Jenkins reported from the state and made the odd claim that former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg is ‘little-known’ despite his rise to prominence in the Democratic field.

“It’s been 100 years, the centennial this year, of New Hampshire being first in the nation,” Jenkins said. “And it’s all eyes on Bernie Sanders. He led every major poll coming in to today. He won four years ago by an overwhelming number but he is taking it to the progressive left.”

“And then we were watching Pete Buttigieg, the little-known mayor from South Bend closing in on him throughout the day. But one thing was very clear in the last several days, every candidate agrees it’s time to remove Donald Trump.”

Buttigieg was little-known at the start of the Democratic primary process, but since then, he’s become something of a household name. He’s seen off more experience candidates, including U.S. senators and was basically tied with Senator Bernie Sanders in Iowa last week.

Moreover, Buttigieg looks on track to finish second in New Hampshire, a major win for him as the candidates look towards the rest of the primary season. At this stage, it seems bizarre to consider Buttigieg a fringe figure who doesn’t enjoy national attention.
