James Carville Compares Bernie Sanders to Jeremy Corbyn: ‘I’m Not Interested in Being in a Cult’

Veteran political commentator James Carville launched another attack on the Democratic Party on Monday. Speaking on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Carville appeared to strongly criticize Senator Bernie Sanders and even suggested part of his party was becoming like a cult. This is the second time in recent days that the former Democratic strategist has slammed his party.

“The only thing, the only thing between the United States and the abyss is the Democratic Party,” Carville said.

“That’s it. And if we go the way of the British Labour Party, if we nominate Jeremy Corbyn, it’s gonna be the end of days,” Carville said. “If the British Labour Party would have nominated David Milliband, they’d be in power. So I am scared to death, I really am.”

Carville was clearly referring to Sanders, whose policies have been compared to Corbyn’s. He went on to say that he hoped African Americans would vote sensibly.

“They’re looking for somebody that can come in and not just excite them but talk about things that really matter to them in everyday life,” Carville said.

“They’re not interested in socialism and revolution and all that stuff you hear. They’re interested in somebody that’s gonna come to them and articulate a vision as to how they fit into this country and what’s their relationship and what kind of things the kids do, the health care they receive, the wages they receive. If we lose that, we’re gonna be the British Labour Party, we’re gonna be out some theoretical left-wing La La Land.”

Carville went on to say that parts of his party wanted to be a cult.

“There’s a certain part of the Democratic Party that wants us to be a cult,” he said. “I’m not interested in being in a cult. I’m 75 years old. I’m just not — I’m not a very culty person.”
