Dutch Trump Fan Who Said He Had Ukraine Ambassador Under Surveillance Told People He Was in FBI, CIA

A Dutch fan of President Donald Trump who claimed that he had former U.S. Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch under surveillance also claimed he was a law enforcement of various U.S. agencies, including the CIA and the FBI, according to a new report from NBC News.

Anthony de Caluwe claimed that he was surveilling Yovanovitch, who was U.S. ambassador to Ukraine at the time. Caluwe sent updates on the ambassador’s movements to Republican congressional candidate Robert Hyde who passed them on to Lev Parnas, a now indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani.

The messages were released by the House following the impeachment inquiry into the President. De Caluwe has said he was joking.

However, NBC News has learned that de Caluwe has had other questionable dealings in the past. He frequently claimed to be work for the Drug Enforcement Administration. He occasionally told others he worked for the FBI and the CIA.

De Caluwe also had a romantic relationship with a Ukrainian woman who frequently traveled to the country. This contradicts his claim that he had no connection to the country. The woman in question was in Ukraine during the period of the text messages between Hyde and Parnas and the supposed surveillance.

De Caluwe has been a Trump ‘super fan’ for some time, posting about him on social media, where he also attacked Yovanovitch. However, there is as yet no evidence that de Caluwe was actually surveilling the ambassador but his background, as these new details reveal, does not inspire confidence.
