CNN Poll: 50% of Americans Want Trump Impeached and Removed

A new CNN poll undercuts an emerging Republican narrative that support for impeaching President Donald Trump is declining. This is the first poll taken after the House Intelligence Committee’s public impeachment hearings, where several witnesses gave devastating testimony.

The poll, prepared for CNN by SSRS, shows that 50% of American approve of impeaching and removing the President, while 43% disapprove.

According to CNN: “Neither figure has changed since October, with support for impeachment remaining at its highest level thus far in CNN polling. The partisan divide over the President persists as well, with roughly 80 points between Democratic support for Trump’s removal and Republican support for it.”

This directly contradicts the President’s claim that support for impeachment is going down. On Tuesday, as CNN released its’ findings, Trump again claimed that enthusiasm for impeaching him has decreased, citing Fox News.

“Poll shows Dems losing interest in Impeachment inquiry all across the board. These Polls are actually devastating to the Democrats. But the writing was on the wall. He’s done so many great things. He’s devastated ISIS & killed AlBaghdadi, building Wall,” Trump said, quoting Fox’s Jason Meister.

The CNN poll also refutes the claim that support for impeachment among Democrats is declining. On the contrary, Democrats remain highly supportive of the push against the President.
