Donald Trump — Donald Trump! — Accuses Joe Biden of Losing His Mental Faculties

Irony might not be dead when Donald Trump is accusing Joe Biden of losing his mental faculties, but at a minimum it is in a deep coma and trending down.

Trump was leaving the White House on Friday morning to fly to a fundraiser out in the Hamptons when he paused for a long, rambling press conference with the usual cadre of reporters camped out on the South Lawn. Someone in the scrum asked him about some recent comments from Biden.

The president responded:

“Joe is not playing with a full deck. He said that comment, I said “Whoa!” I saw it because I was on something, I had a television. I saw his comment. Joe Biden is not playing with a full deck. This is not somebody you can have as your president. But if he got the nomination, I’d be thrilled.”

It is unclear that the reporter and Trump were talking about the same thing. Though it’s a bit hard to hear, the reporter seemed to be asking Trump about Biden’s criticism of the president’s divisive rhetoric. Trump may have been thinking about Biden’s gaffe Thursday night, in which he told a crowd that “poor kids are just as bright and talented as white kids.” (His campaign quickly issued a statement saying he misspoke.)

Biden may not have seemed as sharp as in the past during the current campaign. But Donald Trump is not exactly known for coherent, detailed speech himself.

If Biden is playing with a deck missing a couple of aces, Trump’s playing with an Uno deck missing three of the four colors.
