Dan Bongino Tells Fox News ‘Something’ Is Causing Mass Shootings, Doesn’t Mention White Supremacy

Fox News’ attempts to separate President Donald Trump from the mass shooting in El Paso, Texas continued on Monday. Frequent contributor Dan Bongino told Fox & Friends that he didn’t know what was causing mass shootings, but said there must be ‘something going on.’

Bongino did his best to muddy the waters, talking about previous incidents and liking them to Democratic politicians, while complaining about politicizing shootings. Throughout the segment, he offered a variety of explanations for mass shootings but never mentioned white supremacist rhetoric.

“We had another shooting this weekend where one of the shooters had some, apparently had some support for another Democrat presidential candidate,” Bongino said, though this appears not to have been the case.

“It’s not their fault. Hundreds of millions of people literally a year across the world listen to political speech. And you know what they do? They go out and vote or argue with their friends about politics. They don’t become savage maniacs and shoot up a Walmart. Clearly, guys, there’s something else going on. There’s something else wrong here.”

Bongino repeatedly claimed that there was ‘something’ to blame for mass shootings but never identified it.

“There’s something going on in our culture. The number of guns is up dramatically, gun crime and gun crime per capita is actually down dramatically. People have had guns in the United States for hundreds of years, since our founding. What is going on in the culture?”

Co-host Pete Hegseth asked Bongino directly what he thought was to blame for mass shootings like El Paso.

“I was thinking about this all weekend,” Bongino said. “All I have is questions. I went to graduate school for psychology but it didn’t make me an expert that I have all the answers. Is it social media over social interaction? Is it this disconnect? Is it the breakdown of our family? Does it have something to do with entertainment choices? I think all of these things should be looked at. I think it’s only fair.”
