Trump Tells Laura Ingraham That Mueller Made ‘Fool of Himself’ in Testimony That Never Happened

President Trump told Laura Ingraham on Thursday that he doesn’t care if Robert Mueller testifies to Congress because the special counsel “made such a fool out of himself the last time.” Which might leave observers who know Mueller hasn’t testified to Congress since being named the special counsel asking themselves, “Huh?”

Trump made the comment in an interview recorded in Normandy before a D-Day remembrance ceremony. The entire interview will air on Thursday night.

In a clip released by Fox Thursday morning, the president told Ingraham that “what people don’t report is the letter he had to do to straighten out his testimony because his testimony was wrong.”

Nope, no idea what Trump is talking about. Mueller has not testified to Congress since being named as special counsel in 2017.

Does Trump mean the letter Mueller sent Attorney General Bill Barr in March complaining that the summary of Mueller’s report that Barr initially released “did not fully capture the context, nature and substance” of the report?

Does he mean the statement the special counsel’s office released in conjunction with the Attorney General’s office after Mueller’s press conference a week ago seeking to reconcile what appeared to be a split over whether Mueller found that Trump had obstructed justice?

Who knows?
