CNN Says Stephen Moore Won’t Return as Contributor After Withdrawing From Fed Consideration

Now that conservative economist Stephen Moore has withdrawn from consideration from the Federal Reserve board following withering criticism over his lengthy history of criticizing gender equality (among other controversial and inflammatory views), one wonders what the future brings for the longtime right-wing pundit.

That future will not include returning back to CNN as an on-air contributor/Trump defender.

As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter’s Jeremy Barr, a CNN spokesperson confirmed to Contemptor that “Stephen Moore will not be returning as a contributor.”

Of course, it would be a bit strange for Moore to return to CNN since it was the network’s KFILE team that was one of the key players that dug into Moore’s old writings and on-air comments that came back to haunt him after Trump named him as a choice for the Fed.

Late last month, KFILE reported that in columns he wrote in the early 2000s, Moore said women should be banned from working at men’s college basketball games and that it was a “travesty” that women “feel free” to play sports with men. The team also reported that Moore said he wasn’t a “big believer in democracy.”

Furthermore, KFILE compiled Moore’s “25-year track record of dismissing women and criticizing gender equality in print and in interviews with conservative outlets” earlier this week, something that was perhaps the final nail in the coffin as a number of GOP senators — including women lawmakers such as Sen. Joni Ernst — indicated they couldn’t see themselves supporting Moore.

Announcing that Moore had withdrawn, President Trump said he had “asked Steve to work with me toward future economic growth in our Country.” And during an interview with Fox Business host Neil Cavuto, Moore said he’d do “whatever the president wants me to do” but it won’t be anything that requires a Senate confirmation.
