Morning Joe: What If China Gave Bernie Sanders Dirt On Mike Pence?

Morning Joe: What If China Gave Bernie Sanders Dirt On Mike Pence?

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough was worried about the precedent set by President Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign. In the wake of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report, Scarborough criticized former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for saying it was OK to receive stole material from Russia.

“And let’s not underestimate the lying and the day trading and the manipulating of the truth and the implications it has on this country,” Mika Brzezinski said. “You know, we can’t be dour 24 hours a day, but I feel it every time I watch the news or read the paper and listen to the way he is acting, Kellyanne Conway, Sarah Sanders, everyone in this administration who shills for this President, acts like lackeys for this President, lies for this President. This is not normal and you know, my daughters, who, this is the first presidency that they’re really witnessing first hand – this is horrendous and it is bad. And the President’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, he went on TV continuing to manipulate the truth, arguing that, you know, talking to the Russians and that whole thing, no big deal. Take a look.”

Brzezinski showed clips of Giuliani on CNN defending taking information from Russians and dismissing any discussion of the morality of it.

“Thanks, Rudy. Proud of you,” Brzezinski mocked. Scarborough moved on to talk to a guest about Giuliani’s comments.

“I could just ask you the straight question: What do you think about one of the President’s top advisers saying it’s OK to get stolen material from Russia? Russia hacking?” Scarborough asked.

“This actually, for Republicans, this sets the precedent. They are now saying it’s OK for Bernie Sanders, if Bernie Sanders decided to get stolen material and, you know, from China about Mike Pence, that would be OK, if Donald Trump didn’t run in 2020.”

“Or Elizabeth Warren getting stolen material from the Iranians who hacked all of Nikki Haley’s phones and hacked all of Nikki Haley’s campaign. It would be OK for the Democrats and Elizabeth Warren to get hacked material from the Iranians and use it in an election. This is bizarre, is it not? There is no justification for that, is there? What national security concerns does this raise for you?”
