Trump Campaign Manager Accuses Warner Bros. of Being ‘A Weapon of the Left’

After President Trump’s bizarre propagandist 2020 campaign video was yanked from Twitter over copyright infringement for unauthorized use of theme music from The Dark Knight Rises, Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale lashed out at Warner Bros. and its parent company, accusing them of being a “weapon of the left” and trying to silence Trump supports.

In case you missed it, Trump tweeted out a two-minute video Tuesday afternoon that somewhat resembled a trailer for a summer blockbuster, complete with a sweeping orchestra and jump cuts. In this instance, however, there was no voice-over narration. Instead, viewers were just bombarded with random footage of Amy Schumer, Rosie O’Donnell and Hillary Clinton along with text that read: “First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they call you racist.”

After it was pointed out that the music came from the 2012 hit film The Dark Knight Rises, Warner Bros. released a statement noting the use of the music was unauthorized and they were working to get the video removed.

It was soon discovered that the video was not an official campaign production but instead came from the conspiracy-laden pro-Trump subreddit r/The_Donald, where it was uploaded last week. This is far from the first time that Trump has tweeted out memes from the fever swamp, as we saw just last week with his Joe Biden video.

Following Warner Bros. decision to shut down the video, Trump’s campaign noted that the video came from a supporter, adding that the president “likes to share content from diehard supporters” and this was another example of “how hard Trump supporters fight for the President.”

Parscale, meanwhile, took to Twitter to rail against the decision and frame it within the recent AT&T-Time Warner merger, a merger the Trump administration tried hard to scuttle.

“Sad to see an @ATT owned company pull such a great video made by an every day American in good fun, he wrote. “AT&T now owns @CNN and is positioning themselves as a weapon of the left.”
