Trump Shouts Out His Favorite Fox News Stars at Rally, Mocks CNN/MSNBC’s Ratings

President Trump was in fine form at a rally in Michigan Thursday night. Buoyed by the fiction that he has been “totally exonerated” on the question of whether he colluded with Russia during the 2016 election, the president used the opportunity to mock CNN and MSNBC for seeing their ratings crater this week. At the same time, he heaped praise on all the talking heads at his personal propaganda network, Fox News, for having stood by him the last two years.

“All of the Democrat politicians, the media bosses, bad people!” Trump told a cheering crowd full of white people wearing red hats. “The crooked journalists, the totally dishonest TV pundits. And by the way, they know it’s not true. They just got great ratings. By the way, their ratings dropped through the floor last night, did you see that?”

He continued by giving a shout-out to Fox’s primetime lineup: “And our friends, Tucker, Sean, Laura. Through the roof last night!”

Good boys and girl. Here’s a pat on the head.

Trump called for the media to be held accountable for writing about the Russia investigation. Then he turned to the infamous Steele dossier, saying that it was so inaccurate that no media outlet would touch it before the election. Then he claimed when it was released after the election, “everybody had a big, fat yawn.” Which makes you wonder if he was thinking of a different dossier.

He returned to praising right-wing media later on, shouting out his “great friends” working on it. In particular, he called out Judge Jeanine Pirro, the Fox News host who was recently suspended for two weeks for Islamaphobic comments about Rep. Ilhan Omar. Who, as it happens, represents a district in Michigan:

Fox was the only news network that carried the entire rally from start to finish, so it was nice of him to pay them back by praising their hosts.
