Stephanie Ruhle After Michael Cohen Bombshell: ‘This Is Why We Call The President A Liar’

Following former Trump personal attorney Michael Cohen’s guilty plea to making false statements to Congress over Donald Trump’s involvement in a Moscow project in 2015 and 2016, the president suggested it was no big deal and that everyone already knew he had business deals in Russia at the time.

MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle straight up called Trump a liar this afternoon while highlighting the president’s changing tune on his dealings with Russia.

“Everybody knew about it,” Trump said today before leaving for the G20 summit in Argentina. “It was written about it in newspapers. It was a well-known project. It was during the early part of ‘16. I guess even before that.”

Ruhle pushed back, saying it “wasn’t known about” and that Trump and his team “certainly didn’t share that information.” She then played a clip of Trump in January 2017 insisting he had nothing going on with Russia.

“I tweeted out that I have no dealings with Russia,” Trump said at the time. “I have no deals in Russia. I have no deals that could happen in Russia. Because we’ve stayed away. And I have no loans with Russia.”

“This is why we call the president a liar,” Ruhle exclaimed. “At that moment, he didn’t have any live deals in Russia. But just months earlier, he had been pursuing a deal.”

She went on to recite portions of Cohen’s plea deal in which the ex-Trump lawyer asserts that he discussed the proposed Trump Tower Moscow deal with Trump and his family members, including current White House advisers Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner.
