CNN’s Angela Rye Explodes After Steve Cortes Claims Trump’s Not Attacking Freedom Of Press

During a ‘Great Debate’ on Cuomo Prime Time Tuesday night, CNN political commentator Angela Rye absolutely lost it when fellow CNN contributor Steve Cortes stated as fact that President Donald Trump has done nothing to infringe on the free press’s rights during his tenure.

Towards the end of a discussion on the president’s decision to stand behind Saudi Arabia and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman despite MBS’s involvement in journalist Jamal Khashoggi’s murder, Rye argued that one of the reasons Trump is siding with the Saudis is he also sees the press as the enemy.

“And all he has done is criticize the press” the former Trump campaign operative declared. “He has not done one thing to infringe upon the freedom of the press in this country.”

Rye immediately blew up at Cortes’ remark, bringing up the White House pulling CNN correspondent Jim Acosta’s press pass and threatening to go after CNN contributor April Ryan’s credentials, among other things. Cortes responded that the reporters Rye named can say whatever they want about Trump, causing the liberal pundit to point out that just this week the Trump administration told Acosta that they were going to revoke his credentials again after the temporary restraining order was lifted.

The two went back and forth a bit more, with Cortes blaming Acosta’s “poor behavior” for his ban and Rye begging the conservative commentator to “not do that to Jim.”

“Come on, bro!” she exclaimed. “You don’t mean that! You don’t mean that!”

When Cortes complained that it was “fake news” to compare Trump to MBS because he wasn’t murdering journalists, anchor Chris Cuomo stepped in and said that isn’t “our standard” for someone to die for it to be deemed an attack on freedom of the press.

When Rye exclaimed that Trump’s rhetoric is actually placing people’s lives in danger and explaining that folks at CNN are receiving death threats, Cortes responded by bringing up Antifa and saying the vitriol in the country is coming from the left.

“Is that why that guy sent me a bomb?” Cuomo snapped back, referencing MAGAbomber Cesar Sayoc. “Is that why we have bombs sent here, because of Antifa?”

“Are you saying that Antifa is not violent?” Cortes replied.

“I’m saying that’s not who sent the bomb to my office!” Cuomo stated.
