The White House Is Planning To Pull Jim Acosta’s Credentials As Soon As Possible

The White House is planning to pull CNN journalist Jim Acosta’s press pass as soon as a 14-day restraining order ends. CNN won a victory in court and the administration was forced to restore Acosta’s access to the White House, but officials have already said they will ban Acosta again.

CNN’s Brian Stelter broke the news on Twitter last night after the White House sent a letter to Acosta informing him of their decision. It seems the administration is determined to keep Acosta out White House press briefings and deny him access to President Donald Trump.

“Friday’s court ruling means that a temporary restraining order is in effect for 14 days. But W.H. officials sent Acosta a letter stating that his press pass is set to be suspended again once the restraining order expires,” Stelter tweeted.

“From the looks of the letter, the W.H. is trying to establish a paper trail that will empower the administration to boot Acosta again at the end of the month,” Stelter said in an update posted by CNN

“The White House is continuing to violate the First and 5th Amendments of the Constitution,” CNN said in a statement. “These actions threaten all journalists and news organizations. Jim Acosta and CNN will continue to report the news about the White House and the President.”

More information will become available today. Other news organizations came out in solidarity with CNN, including Fox News, to the surprise of many and the outrage of some of its fans. If the White House pulls Acosta’s credentials again, the administration will likely end up back in court.
