Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt Complains That Recounts Take The ‘Fun Out Of Election Night’

With the Florida races for both governor and the Senate heading to mandatory recounts, conservative media has largely taken the side of President Trump and Governor Rick Scott by implying that Democrats are trying to steal the elections. One of the main complaints from Republicans, including President Trump, is that ballots that have been counted following Election Day have decreased the leads from the GOP candidates, leading to calls that the races should be called based on the counts from Election Night.

During this morning’s broadcast of Fox & Friends, co-host Ainsley Earhardt offered up another reason why races should be settled by the end of Election Night — it is way more fun that way!

“I think part of the fun of voting and having your voice heard is finding out on Election Night,” she said during a discussion on the Florida recount. “We all stay up really late to see what these votes, when they come in and when these races are called.”

She continued, “If you aren’t — or you are still counting votes after 10 days — I understand if it’s super close you have to do that and it is down there — if you are still counting votes and they change it for going forward, we are still counting ballots 10 days after, it kinda takes the fun out of election night, too.”

It should be pointed out that absentee ballots sent by military members overseas and postmarked by Election Day shall be counted as long as they are received by the precinct within 10 days of the election — in this case, November 16. Also, more and more states are allowing mail-in voting, which makes a full count on Election Night impossible.

Fellow host Brian Kilmeade, likely seeing the dumb rabbit hole Earhardt was going down, immediately interjected and said: “I’m willing to take the fun out to get it right though.”

“I understand if it’s really close you have to do it,” she conceded.

The curvy couch crew then turned to Governor Rick Scott’s unfounded accusations of widespread election fraud and how a judge pushed back and told Scott to present any evidence while throwing out the governor’s request to impound voting machines. They then played a clip from the one person that should be heard on this issue — Rush Limbaugh.
