CNN’s John King Points Finger At Camera, Tells Viewers ‘The President Thinks You’re Stupid’

While President Trump has always had an almost non-existent relationship with the truth, he has upped the ante on falsehoods and lies these past few weeks as he’s absolutely flooded the zone with a torrent of baseless claims and straight-up bullshit.

During a CNN panel discussion this afternoon, host John King explained to his viewers that the president is treating them as if they were stupid by figuring they don’t care that he’s constantly lying to them.

Playing a clip of ex-White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci defending the president’s constant lying, King noted that he doesn’t know if it “makes you laugh or cry” that Trump’s advisers feel that the press highlighting the president’s lies worked for him in 2016 so it is something he should continue doing.

“When you guys are upset about it and listing all the lies and trying to explain that you can’t get a tax cut done in 10 days, people are happy about the fact that he is a wrecking ball inside of Washington and smashing into this,” the Mooch said on MSNBC. “If you want to beat the president, exposing his lies or explaining them to people is not going to beat the president.”

The CNN host reacted by calling Scamucci’s comments “stunning,” especially since he is not disputing the fact that Trump lies almost non-stop.

“The president thinks you’re stupid,” King exclaimed, looking directly into the camera and jabbing his finger. “The president thinks people are stupid.”

Meanwhile, TIME’s Molly Ball noted that Mooch is correct that a majority of people don’t care that Trump is untruthful because Trump was that person before he became president and a large percentage voted for him anyway.
