Kavanaugh Lawyer Blasts Accuser Julie Swetnick For Attending Parties Where Alleged Rapes Occurred

Following the eye-popping accusations made by Julie Swetnick in which she claims Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh exhibited drunkenly aggressive sexual behavior and was present when she was gang-raped at a party, Kavanaugh attorney Beth Wilkinson dismissed the allegations while essentially saying Swetnick lacks credibility.

During an appearance on CNN this afternoon, Wilkinson presented an argument that has been the talking point du jour on the right — why did Swetnick attend ten parties over a period of two years that featured Kavanaugh and others engaging in sexual misconduct and rape.

“When you say you went to ten parties like that and you kept going to those parties even though that was happening and you saw that supposedly happen to other girls?” Wilkinson asked during her interview with anchor Wolf Blitzer. “That is a different thing not to report.”

She continued, “I understand why women don’t report sexual assault. It’s very difficult and no one should criticize them for that, but this is a whole different level.”

Wilkinson said that Swetnick’s allegations show that Swetnick went back to the house parties even after witnessing inappropriate behavior towards other women, revealing that she wasn’t concerned “what was happening to those other women.”

“I have a very hard time believing that’s true,” she noted.

Wilkinson then concluded her argument by saying it was “outrageous” that Swetnick waited until just now to say something, adding that she “cannot imagine not coming forward when this man was named — if that’s what you witnessed.”

GOP Senators Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy have latched onto this particular argument, with Cassidy saying it “just doesn’t seem right” that Swetnick never reported the rapes and Graham declaring he had a “difficult time believing any person would continue to go to – according to the affidavit – ten parties over a two-year period where women were routinely gang raped and not report it.”
