Hannity’s Roseanne Barr Interview Leads Cable News Thursday, Draws 3.3 Million Viewers

Fox News’ Sean Hannity aired an exclusive interview with disgraced comedian Roseanne Barr on Thursday night, her first television interview since she was fired from ABC for posting racist tweets about Valerie Jarrett. Despite major news about former Trump attorney Michael Cohen dominating the rest of cable news coverage at the same time, the Roseanne interview came out as the top-rated hour.

According to Nielsen, Hannity placed first overall in both total viewers (3.338 million) and the key 25-54 demographic (660,000). Hannity’s 9 PM competition, MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, placed second in the demo (570,000) and total viewership (2.866 million). Fox’s The Ingraham Angle finished third in both metrics, drawing 2.627 million viewers overall and 525,000 in the demographic.

During the 8 PM to 11 PM primetime hours, Fox News led across the board as it averaged 562,000 demo viewers and a total audience of 2.821 million. MSNBC followed up with 2.324 million viewers overall and 444,000 in the key demographic. CNN attracted 402,000 in the demo and 1.201 million total viewers.

The top-rated program on CNN was Cuomo Prime Time, which drew 459,000 in the demographic and 1.350 million total viewers.

Hannity will air the rest of the Roseanne interview on Friday night’s broadcast.
