Roseanne Tells Valerie Jarrett She ‘Needs A New Haircut’ While Insisting Her Tweet Wasn’t Racist

Comedian and one-time sitcom superstar Roseanne Barr appeared on Fox News’ Hannity Thursday night to address the racist tweets that led to her losing her hit ABC show. IF you thought she’d use the opportunity to issue a contrite apology for comparing a black woman to an ape, well think again.

In the first part of her interview with Sean Hannity — part two will air Friday night — Barr insisted that her tweet in which she said former White House senior advisor Valerie Jarrett looked like the offspring of the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes” was really about Iran and her strong feelings about Israel.

After this went on for a while, Hannity asked Roseanne to address his viewers and perhaps offer another apology for those who hadn’t seen her mea culpas on Twitter. (Mind you, she’s backtracked many times on her apologies, including her unhinged off-the-rails YouTube video in which she said she “thought the bitch was white!”)

After telling Hannity that she “made a mistake” and it has cost her “everything,” she said she didn’t know Jarrett was African-American before delivering this sorta apology into the camera:

“If she’s watching, I’m so sorry that you thought I was racist and that you thought my tweet was racist. Because it wasn’t. It was political. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding that caused, my ill-worded tweet. And, you know I’m sorry that you feel harmed and hurt. I never meant that. And for that I apologize. I never meant to hurt anybody or say anything negative about an entire race of people which I think, 30 years of my work can attest to.”

“Of course I’d tell her, she’s got to get a new haircut,” Roseanne concluded. “I mean seriously, she needs a new haircut.”

Hannity tried to save the moment by interjecting that “people try to say that about me all the time.”

Oof.
