Oops! Secretary Of State Mike Pompeo Calls Trump Administration A ‘Regime’

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday about President Donald Trump’s recent summits with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. The nation’s top diplomat found himself flustered early on after taking a bipartisan drubbing, with committee chairman Bob Corker (R-TN) telling him Trump looked “submissive and deferential” dealing with Russia.

Perhaps Pompeo was still thrown off balance when he was questioned by Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and made a Freudian slip when it came to referencing the current administration.

Hammering away at Pompeo about North Korea, Markey noted that Trump continues to trust Kim without verifying that he’s actually working on denuclearizing the country. The Massachusetts senator further stated that North Korea hasn’t returned the remains of Korean War soldiers despite Trump claiming it had already happened before bringing up how the Hermit Kingdom is getting around recent oil sanctions.

“China and Russia continue to export oil to North Korea in violation of the U.N. resolutions,” Markey said.

“Sanctions that didn’t exist before this regime took office,” Pompeo retorted, referring to the Trump administration as if it were a dictatorship.

Yep, Pompeo’s having himself a day.
