Kim Guilfoyle Announces She ‘Decided To Leave Fox News’ Days After Network Parted Ways With Her

Even though it has been known for a few days that longtime Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle is no longer with the network and that she was joining a pro-Trump Super PAC, the conservative commentator and girlfriend of presidential son Donald Trump Jr. made an “announcement” Tuesday morning that she was leaving Fox News.

“Today I have a bitter-sweet announcement,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’ve decided to leave Fox News Channel and dedicate myself full time to joining America First as Vice Chairwoman, campaigning across the country and firmly standing with President Trump.”

She added that she would miss her “Fox family” and thanked the network for giving her an opportunity.

It was first reported on Friday morning by ABC News’ John Santucci and Vanity Fair’s Gabriel Sherman that Guilfoyle was leaving Fox, with Santucci noting that she would be taking a role with America First. Later in the day, HuffPost’s Yashar Ali reported that Guilfoyle’s departure from the network wasn’t voluntary and the two sides were negotiating her separation.

On Friday afternoon, Fox News confirmed Guilfoyle was gone from the network with a terse statement that merely said “FOX News has parted ways with Kimberly Guilfoyle.” Over the weekend, Fox News media analyst Howard Kurtz would address Guilfoyle’s departure by noting there were “tensions” behind the scenes between the two parties while wishing Guilfoyle luck in her future endeavors campaigning for Trump.

The Daily Beast reported on Tuesday morning that many within Fox News are waging a “covert war and hostile whisper campaign” against their former colleague. In a statement to the Beast, Fox News PR head Irena Briganti said: “Fox News in no way, shape, or form has said anything about Kimberly other than the statement issued by the network on Friday. To suggest anything otherwise is absolutely false, downright malicious, and defamatory.”

In a statement released Tuesday morning, America First repeated Guilfoyle’s tweet announcing her position with the group as Vice Chairwoman while calling her “one of the most highly sought-after television personalities in the country.”
