CNN Anchor Chastises Guest For Calling Stephen Miller A White Nationalist: It Lacks ‘Civility’

With Trump administration figures being subjected to protests and refusal of service in the wake of a humanitarian crisis caused by the president, cable news has been laser-focused on the idea of civility in our politics, especially after Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) called for Trump allies to be confronted in public.

During a Monday morning CNN interview, anchor Kate Bolduan lectured immigration attorney David Leopold when he argued that the Trump administration was using immigration policies to spur racial resentment while pointing to one of the chief architects of the “zero tolerance” policy.

“It also is an administration that has threatened our local community, that wants to enforce the laws they see fit for not enforcing immigration law,” Leopold stated. “I have no doubt that this administration, Donald Trump, who is advised by a white nationalist, Stephen Miller in the White House, that the Secretary of Homeland Security –”

Wincing, Bolduan cut him off, telling Leopold that she had just done “an entire segment about civility.”

“I don’t know if you want to call Stephen Miller a white nationalist,” Bolduan sternly added.

“It’s not an uncivil thing,” Leopold shot back. “I would argue that it’s a fact.”

The CNN anchor wanted to know where Leopold was getting his information on Miller being a white nationalist because she had “not seen that.”

“I mean, where is the fact on that?” Bolduan asked.

“Well, look at what the types of policies that we have seen from this administration,” Leopold noted. “Look who is being targeted by this administration. The point is that the law, Kate, should be used fairly. The point is that, you know, Americans love due process. America is all about due process and when we see a tweet from the president on a Sunday decrying judges, saying that there should be no judges, that people shouldn’t have a chance, immigration law is complicated.”

As far as whether or not Miller is a white nationalist, there are at least arrows that point that way when it comes to Miller’s positions and beliefs. In fact, the idea of Miller embracing ethno-nationalist ideals lead an outside White House advisor ripped into Miller to say “he’s Waffen-SS.” And let’s not forget that Miller has had ties with infamous white supremacists Richard Spencer and Peter Brimelow.
