Michael Cohen Takes Swipe At Trump: ‘This Family Separation Policy Is Heart Wrenching’

For some reason, despite being under multiple federal investigations for months now following the FBI raids of his office and home, former Trump personal attorney and longtime “fixer” Michael Cohen still held a post as deputy finance chair of the Republican National Committee. That ended today as Cohen announced his resignation from the position.

In his resignation letter, the Trump confidante took a pointed shot at his ex-boss over the administration’s “zero tolerance” immigration policy that has resulted in the separation of thousands of children from their parents.

Acknowledging that the SDNY and Mueller investigations had made it “impossible” for him to dedicate attention to the RNC role, Cohen wrote the following:

“As the son of a Polish holocaust survivor, the images and sounds of this family separation policy is heart wrenching. While I strongly support measures that will secure our porous borders, children should never be used as bargaining chips.”

This is the first time that Cohen has publicly distanced himself from POTUS. His swipe at the president also comes amid reports that the embattled attorney is willing to give investigators information on Trump and that he’s planning on hiring a new lawyer to handle an expected federal indictment.

Meanwhile, regarding the president’s policy of separating families, Trump has said he will sign “something” that will supposedly put an end to the separations. Instead, the plan will “keep families together in federal custody while awaiting prosecution for illegal border crossings,” per the Washington Post.
