Tucker Carlson: Outrage Over Migrant Families Being Torn Apart Is ‘Performance Art’

While a number of conservatives and Republicans have split from the Trump administration and condemned the “zero tolerance” policy that has resulted in the separation of thousands of migrant children from their parents, we’ve also seen many of the most influential right-wing voices circle the wagons and claim that this is all an overblown controversy. Rush Limbaugh has called it a “manufactured crisis.” Ann Coulter said the kids are “child actors” who are being coached by liberals. Laura Ingraham thinks the whole thing is hilarious.

Now we can toss Tucker Carlson into the mix as the Fox News host began his Monday night broadcast by claiming those expressing outrage over the humanitarian crisis were merely engaging in “performance art.”

“The spectacle of illegal immigrants separated from their children at the border has ceased to be a news story in any traditional sense of the term,” the immigration hawk proclaimed. “It is now an event, a sort of competition in which elites vie to see who can reach greater heights of rhetorical excess and self-righteous posturing. It is performance art, really.”

After taking aim at his usual suspects — Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, liberals in general — Tucker then claimed the liberal elite cared more about foreign-born children than American kids.

“This is one of those moments that tells you everything about our ruling class,” he declared. “They care far more about foreigners than about their own people.”

“They’re great at yelling and preening,” he continued without even a hint of irony. “Not so good at fixing and building.”

He concluded his monologue by making a point he’s argued over and over again on his show — that the left wants to allow more immigrants into the country in order to “change your country forever.”

Subtle. So very subtle. Whatever could Tucker be hinting at here?
