Hannity’s Trump Interview Attracts 4.1 Million Viewers, Easily Tops Cable News Tuesday Night

Fox News star and close Trump confidant Sean Hannity scored the first post-North Korea summit interview with the president. And that interview resulted in big ratings for the conservative commentator.

According to Nielsen, Hannity pulled in a total viewership of 4.1 million and 914,000 in the key 25-54 demographic on Tuesday night, easily topping all of cable news in both metrics. For the second night in a row, Hannity averaged a bigger total audience than its 9 PM CNN and MSNBC competitors combined, as CNN’s Cuomo Prime Time attracted 1.008 million total viewers and MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show nabbed 2.526 million. (Hannity was the program of choice for cable viewers to view the start of the summit Monday night.)

Buoyed by Hannity’s numbers, Fox News dominated during the primetime 8 PM to 11 PM hours, leading the way with 3.445 million total viewers and 782,000 in the demo. MSNBC placed second in both the demographic (468,000) and total audience (2.06 million). CNN captured 1.029 million viewers overall and 321,000 in the key demo.

In total day, Fox News led across the board with 1.884 million total viewers and 427,000 in the demographic. MSNBC pulled in 1.073 million viewers overall and a demo audience of 233,000. CNN averaged 233,000 demo viewers and a total viewership of 716,000.

One interesting observation is that CNN’s 8 PM program, Anderson Cooper 360, garnered a larger audience than Cuomo Prime Time in both total viewers (1.087 million to 1.008 million) and the key demo (370,000 to 307,000).
