MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace Leads Time Slot Wednesday In Total Viewers And Demo

MSNBC pulled out a couple of hourly cable news ratings victories on Wednesday while Fox News once again came out in top, leading the day in total viewers and the key 25-54 demographic.

For the total day, Fox News averaged 1.472 million viewers overall and 285,000 in the demo, according to Nielsen. MSNBC placed second in both the demographic (229,000) and total viewers (1.122 million). CNN attracted a total audience of 683,000 and 222,000 demo viewers.

During the primetime 8 PM – 11 PM time slot, Fox News led across the board by averaging 2.764 million total viewers and 578,000 in the demographic. MSNBC took the silver in both metrics, drawing 2.239 million viewers overall and 439,000 in the demo. CNN captured a total audience of 957,000 and 328,000 in the demo.

The top-rated show of the day was Fox News’ Hannity, which averaged 3.114 million total viewers and 654,000 in the key demo. Hannity’s 9 PM competitor, MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show, finished second overall in both the demographic (571,000) and total viewership (2.738 million). Fox’s The Ingraham Angle came in third in nthe 25-54 demo (558,000) and total viewers (2.684 million).

While Fox dominated most of the day, MSNBC did lead in the 4 PM and 11 PM hours. Nicolle Wallace’s show, Deadline: White House, led the 4 PM time slot in both the demo (255,000) and overall audience (1.335 million). At 11 PM, MSNBC’s The 11th Hour came out on top in total viewership (1.596 million) while finishing second in the demo (316,000). Fox News @ Night led in the demo with 363,000 viewers.

The most-watched CNN show was the 8 PM broadcast of Anderson Cooper 360, which pulled in 1.044 million total viewers and 365,000 in the key demo.
