Remember When Hannity And Roger Stone Were Gushing Over ‘Courageous’ Julian Assange?

Thursday brought the blockbuster news that longtime Trump adviser and notorious political trickster Roger Stone apparently lied about his communications with a radio host who he tried to use as a conduit to WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in attempt to obtain emails from Hillary Clinton.

In an email obtained by the Wall Street Journal, Stone contacted Randy Credico in September 2016 and asked him: “Please ask Assange for any State or HRC e-mail from August 10 to August 30–particularly on August 20, 2011.” Stone, however, failed to provide this and other emails to Congressional investigators, and his communications with Credico contradict what he told the House Intelligence Committee last year. At that time, he claimed he was merely trying to get confirmation from Credico that Assange had info on Clinton.

On the same day we saw definitive evidence that Stone was trying to collude with Russia via WikiLeaks, it was also reported Assange may find himself in danger of being extradited to the United States. After a roughly six-year stay in the Ecuadorian embassy in London, it appears that his diplomatic protection there is in “jeopardy.”

With all of that occurring on Thursday, let’s flash back two months ago to the time Stone appeared on Fox News host and White House shadow chief of staff Sean Hannity’s TV program and the two men tried to outdo each other in praising the WikiLeaks founder and accused rapist.

During the March 6th hit, Hannity got things rolling by pointing out he has interviewed Assange five times and traveled to the Ecuadorian embassy, wondering aloud why Special Counsel Robert Mueller hasn’t spoken to Assange if he wants to know if the hacked Democratic emails came from Russia.

“I can’t say for certain that anyone else on this Earth would know 100 percent but he would,” Hannity added.

This led Stone to state that he doesn’t believe the emails were hacked by Russia, hinting at a conspiracy that a DNC insider was the real source of the hacks — a theory that Hannity has pushed countless times. Stone then fawned over Assange about his journalistic ability.

“Well when I said on MSNBC tonight that I did not believe that Julian Assange was a Russian agent and I did not believe that WikiLeaks is a Russian asset, I think he’s an honest journalist and no one has questioned the authenticity or the accuracy of any of the material that WikiLeaks has released,” the longtime Trump confidant exclaimed.

Hannity, not to be outdone, claimed that WikiLeaks hadn’t gotten anything wrong in 11 years while asserting its record was better than the Washington Post, New York Times and everyone else.

“That’s exactly right,” Stone responded. “And this entire narrative is based on a false premise from our politicized intelligence agencies that Julian Assange is a Russian agent. No he isn’t, he’s a courageous journalist who has an incredible track record for accuracy and authenticity.”

Mmmmm-hmmmm.
