Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: You Can’t Joke About Kellyanne And SHS Because They’re Not ‘Powerful People’

After spending the early part of Monday morning absolutely losing it on Fox & Friends over Michelle Wolf’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner jokes, Brian Kilmeade took to his radio show to continue to rip into the comedy set. And during his continued criticisms of the routine, the Fox News personality tried to pass off a couple of senior White House staffers as just some everyday folks.

As Wolf took aim at White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and White House counselor Kellyanne Conway in her set, Kilmeade made his case that Wolf was punching down.

“Very few, I can tell you, were laughing at Michelle Wolf,” the Fox host declared. “Cringing, more likely. Because — because there was a victim.”

Kilmeade then explained how comedy works to all those listening.

“With comedy, the victim should be powerful people. They shouldn’t be Kellyanne Conway and Sarah Huckabee Sanders. And if you’re going to mock them, you have fun with it, but you don’t make fun of them.”

So, there you go. Two people who are a ubiquitous presence on cable news and who hold high-ranking positions in the Trump administration are not “powerful people,” according to Kilmeade.

In the wake of Wolf’s comedy set, conservatives and members of the political media class have expressed outrage over her being way too mean to Sanders, adding that Wolf viciously attacked Sanders’ looks by mentioning her “perfect smoky eye” and comparing her to a Handmaid’s Tale character.
