GOP Congresswoman: I Don’t Know What Trump’s Strategy Is When It Comes To North Korea

During a panel discussion on Sunday’s broadcast of CNN’s State of the Union, Rep. Mia Love (R-UT) offered up some mild criticism of President Donald Trump regarding the lack of a coherent strategy regarding North Korea.

With the president taking to Twitter to talk tough about the North Koreans, and the reclusive country seemingly preparing for an all-out war, host Jake Tapper asked the conservative lawmaker if she had an idea what the strategy was coming from the White House.

“Well, first of all, no,” Love bluntly said. “And I think that we — well, I think that we need to know.”

She added that Trump needed to address Congress, “I always have these rules that, you know, before I send my neighbors off to war, before we commit any act of war members of Congress need to know, we need to make sure that we have a clear mission and a plan.”

Love went on to state that there needs to be a dialogue over how serious the North Korea situation is and that “both sides of the aisle really want to be engaged in what’s happening before we make any major steps.”

Over the past couple of days, North Korea held a huge military parade showing off various pieces of hardware and missiles before launching a projectile that immediately blew up upon liftoff. Meanwhile, with the United States sending a carrier strike group off the coast of the Korean peninsula, the North Koreans look to be preparing to engage in another underground nuclear test.

On top of that, the North Korean government has said they see the president’s aggressive tweets as provocation, and there are reports that the US is looking at the possibility of a preemptive strike on North Korea.
