Corey Lewandowski: Treat Donald Trump’s Comments Like A Guy In A Bar

Donald Trump’s former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski has said that what Trump says should not be taken literally. Lewandowski told CNN last night that Trump didn’t always have a full grasp of the facts but that shouldn’t matter.

“This is the problem with the media,” Lewandowski said. “You guys took everything that Donald Trump said so literally. The American people didn’t. They understood it. They understood that sometimes, when you have a conversation with people, whether it’s around the dinner table or at a bar, you’re going to say things, and sometimes you don’t have all the facts to back it up.”

Trump has a habit of spreading untruths and pushing conspiracy theories. He recently claimed on Twitter that ‘millions’ had voted illegally for Hillary Clinton despite a complete lack of evidence. Trump lied throughout his campaign about the economy, crime statistics and his own interactions with media and individuals.

Lewandowski resigned as Trump’s campaign manager following allegations that he physically assaulted a reporter at a Trump rally. Lewandowski was hired as a commentator for CNN, which received widespread criticism for keeping Lewandowski on the payroll when it emerged he was still partially employed by Donald Trump.

Trump is not the only person on his team who has a slippery relationship with the truth. Trump’s choice for national security adviser, Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, has a history of making false statements. His subordinates invented the term ‘Flynn Facts’ for the untruths Flynn pushed as reality.
