We Can All Agree Ted Cruz Is The Biggest 2016 Loser

Ted Cruz stood tall and principled speaking at the Republican National Convention. He really wanted to speak, Trump agreed—presumably to see what he would do—and Cruz said “vote your conscience.”

Cruz likely intended to paint himself as some kind of 2020 conservative phoenix ready to rise from the ashes of Trumpism on the back of his refusal to endorse Trump, but then his egotistical presidential calculations turned against him, freaking him out that the GOP would not forgive his lack of loyalty to the GOP nominee.

Hilariously, Cruz ended up endorsing Trump, even after Trump mocked his wife and suggested that his dad helped assassinate President Kennedy. Now Trump is president.

Cruz deserves all the vengeance Trump will likely someday exact on him. He is a crusading fraud who backed down to Donald Trump for the political expediency of his future ambitions. He’s a moral coward.

As usual with Ted Cruz, of course, the whole ordeal came across as a self-indulgent feint of populism, and any political inspiration it might have generated from a cooler politician was naturally tainted by Cruz’s legalistic puritanism. He claims he is a strict constitutionalist, which is pretty stupid in a legislative sense, as it typically pertains to the resistance to any new lawmaking at all, and his selfish flip-flopping on Trump proves his political schtick is a sham. Cruz is simultaneously on the wrong side of history and the wrong side of the wrong side.

Ironically, Ted Cruz may finally realize his goal of Obamacare’s repeal, but it will have nothing to do with him.
