Trump’s Growing Legion Of Poll Watchers Aren’t Up To Any Good

Trump has been behind Clinton in the polls virtually the entire election. The only voting day outcome that would indicate fraud is a Trump victory....

Let’s talk about the fact that Donald Trump is still organizing voting day observers to monitor polling stations, allegedly to stop Hillary Clinton from rigging the election against him.

Is anyone else worried about the fascist odor wafting from this shitty scam?

By law these Trump volunteers cannot physically impede voters from casting their ballots, but surely such a partisan effort is at the very least an act of voter intimidation.

What does Trump want them to do, throw a fuss and question the validity of voters’ identifications to ensure that Hillary Clinton and her conspiratorial minions can’t rob Trump of the electoral landslide he erroneously believes he is riding? Why do I have a feeling this citizen brigade of Trump supporters is going to disproportionately affect and/or target minority voters? It wouldn’t be the first time Republicans tried to intimidate voters.

The fear of election manipulation from the Clinton campaign isn’t even plausible given that Trump has been behind Clinton in the polls virtually the entire election. The only voting day outcome that would indicate fraud is a Trump victory.

Yet, following Trump’s ongoing sexual assault accusations, the polls are moving even further against Trump. At the moment (1pm, October 13), FiveThirtyEight’s election forecast shows that Trump is losing every swing state AND Arizona.

The time of day is unusually relevant because Trump’s recent polling free fall has yet to bottom out. I’m sure I haven’t been the only election-watcher waking up every morning over the last two weeks anxious to check the news on my phone to start my day finding out what new Trump scandal has been uncovered suggesting that Trump is the most awful presidential candidate in modern American memory.

But will Trump’s poll watcher initiative have any effect?

“One of the things that this can do is get rogue people riled up,” election law expert Rick Hasen from the University of California at Irvine told the Washington Post in an August conversation about the approaching illegality of the effort. “Trump sets the fuse and lets someone else do the explosion.”

Seriously, the fascist dictator vibes just don’t quit with this guy.
