Trump Campaign Says Gennifer Flowers Won’t Attend Monday’s Presidential Debate

Gennifer Flowers will not have a front row seat for Monday’s first presidential debate, according to Donald Trump’s campaign. Flowers, who is famous for revealing her affair with President Bill Clinton, claimed she would be at the debate but the Trump campaign has denied this.

Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, told CNN that the campaign had not invited Flowers and she did not expect Flowers would be there. This directly contradicts Flowers’ assistant, who confirmed she would attend. This confusing set of statements is a bad start for Trump’s potentially crucial debate with Hillary Clinton.

Clinton’s debate prep has reportedly involved dealing with her husband’s extra-marital affairs. Some in the Clinton campaign expect Trump to use Bill Clinton’s ‘philandering’ to blindside the Democratic candidate. Despite Trump’s assurance that he would not bring up President Clinton’s sexual indiscretions, he has often hinted at it.

Many of Trump’s more hard line supporters love the idea of using Clinton’s marriage against her. There are popular right-wing memes on the subject of Bill Clinton’s affairs, most of them referencing Monica Lewinsky and the impeachment hearings that involved her.

The Clinton camp has apparently struggled to prepare their candidate for attacks about her husband’s affairs. Reports earlier this year claimed that nobody on Clinton’s team wanted to play the part of Trump discussing Lewinsky, Flowers and others.
