Stephen King: Donald Trump Is Cthulhu But His Hair Hides His Tentacles

Best-selling author Stephen King has criticized Donald Trump yet again. The horror writer hasn’t been coy about insulting the Republican presidential candidate in the past but now he’s stepped up his game. In a tweet, King claimed Trump is actually classic horror monster, Cthulhu.

King tweeted this week: “Breaking News: Reliable sources reveal that Donald Trump is actually Cthulu. The absurd hairdo isn’t absurd at all. It hides the tentacles.” Though King uncharacteristically misspelled Cthulhu, the message is clear. King thinks Donald Trump is a monster.

Cthulhu was created in the 1920s by short story writer HP Lovecraft. Lovecraft’s ‘weird tales’ combine existential horror with science fiction themes. Cthulhu is the chief ‘elder god’ – a race of inter-dimensional beings with monstrous powers and no regard for human life. Many writers, artists and fans have expanded the ‘Cthulhu Mythos’ into a huge sub-genre of horror and science fiction.

King has attacked Trump before. “The most basic fact about Donald Trump: If brains were black powder, the guy couldn’t blow his nose,” King wrote earlier this year. King has also taken issue with Maine Governor Paul LePage calling him ‘a bigot, a homophobe, and a racist’.

Most of King’s novels are based in fictional parts of Maine and he is unquestionably the state’s most famous resident. He is not shy about weighing in to politics, as his statements over the last year have shown. King has created some of the most memorable horrors in the last 30 years, including the alien clown from It and the New England vampires from ‘Salem’s Lot.
