The ‘Flash’/’Arrow’/’Supergirl’ Crossover Is Three Hours Long

Fans of the CW “Flarrowverse” are getting an early Christmas this year. In October, four major CW superhero shows will be returning for new seasons. Arrow, Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will all be coming back, along with Supergirl, which aired its first season on CBS last year.

With all of these shows preparing to air for another season (and most likely more after), you’re probably wondering how showrunner Greg Berlanti does it. After all, he’s got to manage all four of these shows and their stories!

On top of that, Berlanti now has to prepare for the crossover between Arrow, Flash, and Supergirl. The three shows will be merging for a crossover of epic proportions, in which three of DC’s biggest superheroes will meet!

It turns out that this crossover will be a three-hour long story. That’s right, three hours long! Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the episode will be three hours long, as the crossover is spanning across all three shows. With each show having episodes roughly an hour long, it makes sense. Still, this means that if the episodes are aired back to back, we’ll essentially be getting a three-hour TV movie spread across three CW shows!

This may sound like a lot of work for one man, but Berlanti isn’t alone. Speaking to Indie Wire, Berlanti talked about all the people that work hard to give us our favorite superhero shows:

“There’s a lot of people and showrunners and executives at this company. Indeed, we’ve got our fingers in a lot of different pies, but it’s not because it’s just me there all day long. There are so many people I work with who work their butts off.”

All of those people and showrunners have been working closer together than ever on the upcoming three-hour crossover. It’s nice to hear that so many minds are working on the crossover, it sounds like we’re in for quite the treat when our favorite shows return next month.

Flash will return for its third season on October 4. Arrow will return for its fifth season on October 5. Supergirl will return for its second season on October 10. Legends of Tomorrow returns for its second season on October 13 2016.
