Stephen Colbert Wonders Why Trump Supports ‘Dog Stealer’ Pam Bondi

Florida’s attorney general, Pam Bondi, is under fire for dropping an investigation into Trump University in what some have claimed is campaign help from Donald Trump and his family. Bondi was able to hold a fundraiser in Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort shortly after she decided not to bring charges in the Trump U. case. But Colbert had another story to share.

The late night comedian admitted he didn’t know much about Pam Bondi and was forced to google her but he did know at least one thing about Florida’s AG. “One thing’s for sure: Pam Bondi is the only person in the world who made money from Trump University,” he said.

The Late Show host then revealed the results of his Google search – an article claiming Bondi stole a dog in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Following the hurricane, the Humane Society in Tampa Bay, Florida rescued many lost dogs. Bondi adopted one and named it Noah but some time later the dog’s family came looking for it. Bondi refused to return the dog, whom the family had called Master Tank.

“That dog had the greatest name in the world and you changed it?” Colbert said. “Seriously, what sounds better? ‘Time for dinner, Noah.’ Or ‘The meat feast is arrayed before you, Master Tank.’”

Bondi’s ties to Trump are becoming a serious headache for the Florida AG, who claims no wrongdoing. The Trump campaign has yet to explain why Bondi was able to use Mar-a-Lago for free, while Trump has charged his own campaign for the same space.
