Donald Trump’s Dog And Pony Show Comes To A Foreboding End

After a painfully long and draconian speech that lasted for an hour and fifteen minutes; one Donald J. Trump, finally exited the Republican National Convention stage once he accepted the presidential nomination Thursday night in Cleveland.

Trump’s pompous speech was long on promises from a person who has proven himself to be a braggart, bully, misogynist, bigot and buffoon; and traditionally short on explanations for how he would accomplish his long list of “new sheriff in town” promises.

Trump sold himself as the savior and messiah to an adoring crowd of predominately white people and promised that safety would be restored to all—upon his taking the oath of office in January.

“The attacks on our police, and the terrorism in our cities, threaten our very way of life. Any politician who does not grasp this danger is not fit to lead our country,” said Trump. “I have a message for all of you. The crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end. Beginning on January 20, 2017, safety will be restored.”

Trump had the crowd on its feet through most of his speech, while they frequently chanted: “USA, USA, USA!”

In addition to Trump’s endless tirade of narcissistic prophecies and promises, he did a masterful job of creating fear, helplessness and foreboding, for which he was the “only” solution. Only Trump can fix the ills of America and why stop there? He had this to say about all those prickly international anxieties:

“Iran is on the path to nuclear weapons. Syria is engulfed in a civil war and a refugee crisis that now threatens the West. After fifteen years of wars in the Middle East, after trillions of dollars spent and thousands of lives lost, the situation is worse than it has ever been before. This is the legacy of Hillary Clinton: death, destruction, terrorism, and weakness.”

And Trump declared that he can deliver and restore peace and prosperity, while making everyone rich and putting a chicken in every pot.  But first he would need to remove all the Obama appointees, dismantle the Environmental Protection Agency then appoint the most conservative judge he can find to the US Supreme Court.

Trump, who shocked the world by systematically beating out over a dozen rivals to clinch the nomination, began his campaign over a year ago. This is what the Republican Party has dissolved into; the lowest form of Hitler tactics and debauchery.

The entire Republican National Convention from beginning to end was contentious and nearly imploded several times.  It was a festering vestibule of national embarrassment and even many of the Party faithful are breathing a sigh of relief that it’s over.

The Democratic National Convention will be a welcome change by comparison on every level regarding decorum and decency—with a demonstrative absence of fantasy, fiction, fear-mongering and make-believe.
