Donald Trump Has Already Backed Out Of Debate With Bernie That He Proposed

For a few hours, social media was abuzz with the possibility of an actual debate between presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump and Democratic hopeful and self-proclaimed political revolutionary Bernie Sanders. This was all due to Trump telling ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel that he would debate Sanders on national television as long as the proceeds would go to charity. He then talked about how big the ratings would be and yada yada yada.

With Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton having already declined Fox News’ invitation for a debate with Sanders, Bernie jumped all over this news, tweeting the following:

Once Bernie sent that out late Wednesday evening, Sanders supporters and news media outlets got uber excited at the prospect of a prime-time Trump-Sanders spectacle. Berners felt like this could be the thing to push Sanders to the overwhelming victory he needs in California to give him the nearly impossible delegate count he needs to grab the nomination. The news just loved the thought of something else shaking up this already insane election season.

But, lo and behold, it was all quickly doused with cold water, as those who have paid any attention to Trump knew it would be. Thursday morning, CBS News reported that the Trump camp has already begun telling news outlets that he was just kidding.

Imagine that! The guy who backed out of at least two GOP debates, who promised to release his tax returns for months before reneging and who has contradicted or flip-flopped on nearly every single issue he’s discussed was just making shit up on TV. Who would’ve thought?

  1. What coward and a liar. Is this really who you want to be representing the GOP? I would be totally embarrased if he was the democratic nominee.

  2. Donald Trump’s word was good for less than 24 hours. Is that a new record for flip-flopping?

  3. trump is all talk and no action. what a loser, and backing out says a LOT about his questionable character. I like Sanders because he has integrity, and Trump does not have that quality.

  4. He remembered later that if he had to face Bernie in November’s election he would probably lose, so he didn’t want to do anything now to make Bernie look like the better candidate, especially better than Hillary. Smart political move on his part. At least you have to give him that.

  5. Guess handvsize doesn’t indicate if you have real cohones. Trump is supposed to be the boogey man that we are supposed to be so afraid of that we have to vote for the first lady from walmart? He is afraid to debate the nicest man in politics. Your fired !!!

  6. If he debated Bernie there would be three asses directly related to him. Himself, his own ass and the new ass that Bernie would tear him if he did debate.

  7. He dropped out because if he debated Bernie he would have three asses directly attached to him. Himself, his own ass, and the NEW ass Bernie would tear him if he did debate.

  8. I’m still trying to figure out whether he is Tweedle-dee, tweedle-dum, or Tweedle-dumber.

  9. Yeah. Why don’t you use “Jim” and leave pic blank instead? Then attack a person instead of discusaing an idea or correcting facts.

  10. Really and have you paid any attention to how many times Hillary has lied, flip flopped, how many scandals and bodies are attached to her name? And you would be embarrassed of Trump? Should be embarrased for yourself with your head stuck so far in the sand.

  11. You can Like Sanders all day to bad he will not be running in November. Hillary has bought the nomination 7 years ago and no matter what we the people say or want she has the super delegates in her back pocket. Therefore there is no Sanders in the equation your choices are Trump or Clinton. With those choices Ill take Trump any day.

  12. Three major candidates left. Is it really true that only one has any integrity? Is it really true that only one wants to give the voters of California a chance to hear debate on the issues before the biggest primary in the country? Who has respect for voters? Who is unafraid? Who is the leader and who are the followers? We could argue this all day but in fact the character of the candidates is playing out right now in this very issue. I hope people are paying attention.

  13. Humpty Trumpty wanted a wall.
Humpty Trumpty had a big fall.
All of his money and all of his men.
    Couldn’t put Trumpty together again.

  14. Not true. You are not limited by those too. In the primary you can write in Bernie Sanders for the presidency, think outside the box. 🙂

  15. Two* Damn autocorrect… that’s what you get for not paying attention before posting. LOL

  16. Trump never offered to debate Bernie. He was asked a question. The same question Bernie was asked when he was on the same show. Trump answered the question in his characteristic way. Yes he would and if they did these were his conditions. They never agreed to do anything, either side. So, there is no backing out of anything. This guy isn’t reporting on facts, he’s taking a situation and spinning it to his agenda, which is 90%of news today. And you lemmings are eating it up like pigs from a slop trough. No wonder the highest office of our country will be held by either an ego maniac, a criminal liar (at best!) or a socialist. Idiocracy was supposed to be a work of fiction not prophecy.

  17. Unless Sanders is the vetted candidate by the Democratic Party- why should they have a debate? If he is the choice of the Democratic ticket- then of course he will hold the debate !
