Wait, What? Sarah Palin Says Politicians Are “Seducing” Immigrants With “Teddy Bears”

Over the past week, the rug has been pulled out from under Donald Trump’s campaign. While still ostensibly the GOP frontrunner for the presidential nomination, the celebrity billionaire has been confronted with the reality that the vast majority of American voters just plain hate his guts. Recent general election polls show that two-thirds of the voting public have a negative view of him, with the numbers even worse among women, Hispanics and blacks. (Hmmm, I wonder why?)

On Friday night, he gave Republican voters in Wisconsin another reason not to vote for him — the renewed presence of former half-term Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin. Because Trump’s campaign is nothing more than a really bad and seemingly neverending reality show, Palin has been tapped to be one of his lead surrogates on the trail. It was in that capacity that she gave Wisconsin GOPers a glimpse into a Trump presidency.

Even though polls show Trump is down double-digits to rival Ted Cruz in the state, he decided not to show up to the Republican Party Presidential Dinner in Milwaukee County, despite the fact that both Cruz and John Kasich personally attended. Instead, he sent Palin to represent him. And represent him she did!

At one point during her rambling, 20-minute long word-salad, slurred in broken Palinese, the one-time Republican Vice-Presidential nominee claimed that political candidates were urging immigrants to come to America by promising teddy bears and soccer balls.

“Knowing that Trump won on that issue, it should empower you to go ahead and ask the candidates, What the heck are you thinking, candidates? What are you thinking when you’re going ahead and actually asking for more immigrants, illegal immigrants, welcoming them in, even inducing and seducing immigrants with gift baskets of teddy bears and soccer balls?”

Ummm, what? Apparently, those attending the dinner were less than impressed with Palin. Per the Washington Post’s Phillip Rucker, Palin received no applause throughout the speech, but did garner some chuckles when she said “Trump speaks rationally.” Meanwhile, Cruz, Kasich and Wisconsin Governor (and former prez candidate) Scott Walker were all warmly received and received loud cheers during their speeches.

In a moment that hearkened back to Jeb Bush’s “please clap,” Palin told reporters after her speech, “At least they didn’t boo.”

Sarah Palin, the comedic gift that keeps on giving.

Below is video of her entire speech, in case you’re feeling masochistic:
