Fox’s Erick Erickson: Obama’s Rhetoric On Climate Change Is Responsible For Mass Shootings

The Conservative Entertainment Complex is just having a field day as more and more news comes out that the shooters involved in the San Bernardino tragedy earlier this week were likely radicalized and influenced by extreme Islamic terror groups. With each little bit of info that leaks out from law enforcement, the right-wing media has used it as fodder to attack our feckless and secret MOOSLEM Commander-In-Chief. However, we may have reached prime derp on Friday morning with a blog post from Fox News contributor and conservative radio host Erick Erickson.

In obvious response to criticism of the right’s highly-charged anti-abortion rhetoric likely playing a role in Robert Dear’s shooting rampage against a Colorado Planned Parenthood clinic, Erickson decided to use the San Bernardino shooting — and others that have occurred during Obama’s tenure — to claim that the President is directly responsible for a rise in mass shootings. In Erickson’s mind, it is the President’s “violent rhetoric” regarding climate change and health care that is leading people to shoot up people in public.

Wait, say what? Yes, Erickson contends that because the President and his administration wanted to call out global warming skeptics and those looking to hamstring the Affordable Care Act, that he has created a “more violent age” in this country. I shit you not. That is what he wrote.

The man who tells his fellow Americans that incendiary rhetoric can cause violence once told his supporters to take guns to knife fights. He told supporters to get in the faces of their neighbors. He told Hispanic voters to punish Republicans who, Obama said, were their enemies.

Barack Obama’s White House set up a website in which citizens could report other citizens for daring to speak critically of Obamacare. Just last week, President Obama’s Organizing for Action group put up a website encouraging Americans to root out “climate deniers” and “call them out.”

If it seems like we are in a more violent age, we just might be. The violent rhetoric of America’s own president suggests it. He lectures Christians on the crusades and thinks we need to understand why Islamic radicals want to kill us. When a lunatic kills three people outside a Planned Parenthood facility, the President and his political allies blame pro-life Christians. When an Islamic radical kills soldiers at Fort Hood, the President considers it workplace violence.

It used to not be so. But then Barack Obama stood up and literally told people to start taking guns to knife fights. Now we are dealing with the consequences.

As for context on the whole ‘gun to knife fight’ quote, it occurred during the 2008 general election at a fundraiser in Philadelphia. Then-candidate Obama reacted to a donor who shouted out to him not to give in after the Democratic nominee said the general election could get ugly, with Republicans saying “Obama’s a scary guy.” In response to the thick-accented Philly man, Obama joked that the man sounded “tough” and then quoted a scene from The Untouchables, where Sean Connery’s character tells Kevin Costner’s Eliot Ness that “if they bring a knife to the fight, you bring a gun.”

As for the rest of Erickson’s nonsense, I’ll just let it speak for itself.
