Bobby Jindal: I’m Cool With A Muslim President As Long As He’s A Republican Christian

Remember Bobby Jindal? He was supposed to be the savior of the Republican Party some years back. Conservatives loved him not only because he was an Indian-American Rhodes Scholar who served as Governor of red state Louisiana, but also due to the fact that he was a super-duper Christian who pushed charter schools and rejected science. At the same time, they thought he’d appeal to moderates and independents because of his statements saying the GOP needed to stop being the “stupid party”.

Well, jump ahead a few years and poor ol’ Bobby is trying to run for President of the United States, but nobody gives a flying fuck. His piss-poor record as governor has caught up with him and he’s found himself lost in the field, barely even registering in the GOP polls. He’s been stuck at the kiddies table at both GOP primary debates and no matter what he does he can’t seem to get any Republicans to give a shit about him. He’s tried using a local tragedy to his advantage and attacking Donald Trump on Twitter, among other things, all to no avail.

On Monday, Jindal decided to try something else to get noticed. With GOP opponent Ben Carson dealing with the fallout over his comments about a potential Muslim president, Governor Bobby’s campaign team released a statement in which Jindal first chided the mainstream media for asking Carson the question and then claimed that he’d be fine with a Muslim in the White House as long as he was essentially a conservative Christian.

From Jindal’s statement:

“This is a dumb game that the press is playing. It is an absurd hypothetical question. But let’s indulge the media for a moment and play their gotcha game.

“If you can find me a Muslim candidate who is a Republican, who will fight hard to protect religious liberty, who will respect the Judeo-Christian heritage of America, who will be committed to destroying ISIS and radical Islam, who will condemn cultures that treat women as second class citizens and who will place their hand on the Bible and swear to uphold the Constitution, then yes, I will be happy to consider voting for him or her.

“If you can’t, I’ll settle for voting for a Christian Governor from Louisiana.”

Alrighty then. Just so we’re clear, Bobby Jindal would totally be cool with an Islamic commander-in-chief if the person placed their hand on a Christian Bible, was a Republican, respected Christian values and talked a bunch of shit about other Muslim countries. Sounds completely and totally reasonable, Bobby.

In other news, Jindal is currently polling at 0% in the Republican national polls. Who knows, maybe this statement will get him all the way up to 1%? Anything is possible!
