Birther Says What? Trump States Some People Believe We’ve Already Had A Muslim President

Days after GOP Presidential frontrunner and misshapen baby carrot Donald Trump courted more controversy over the way he handled an anti-Muslim supporter’s question during a campaign rally, the real estate mogul spoke to Meet the Press’s Chuck Todd about his thoughts on Muslims and his embrace of birtherism. As one would expect, Trump sent out strong signals to his racist Tea Party fans that he is completely fine with their belief that President Obama is a secret Muslim who was born in another country and that he most likely believes the same things they do.

After speaking for a short time about his poll numbers (natch) and how much evangelical voters like him, Todd moved onto the Trump’s comments that he is not “morally obligated” to correct his supporters if they harshly criticize the President of the United States. Since Thursday night’s debacle, The Donald has taken to Twitter and used his campaign staffers to spread the message that he shouldn’t bear any responsibility for the man’s views, and it isn’t his place to correct him. At the same time, he hasn’t really distanced himself from the birther rhetoric that he so fully embraced when he flirted with running for POTUS in 2011.

While Trump continued to brush off any culpability that his own actions may have had on the man’s blatantly Islamophobic views, he also stated that he didn’t need to push back on the questioner’s belief that we need to rid America of Muslims because the man had a point.

“Well, I feel strongly that Muslims are excellent. I know so many Muslims that are such fabulous people. But there is a problem. I mean, there’s no question about it. And, you know, we can be politically correct, and we can say there is no problem whatsoever. But the fact is, there is a problem with some. And it’s a very severe problem. And it’s a problem that’s taking place all over the world. But I have such great respect and love for so many of the people. I mean, they are great people.”

Anytime Donald Trump says there are “so many great and fabulous people” when talking about a specific ethnic or religious group, it is his ham-fisted effort to deflect the awfully racist views he espouses.

Anyway, this led to Todd asking the real estate mogul if he’d be comfortable with a Muslim president in this country. This brought forth an exchange where the Trumpster pointed out that many people believe we’ve already had one in the White House, obviously hinting that Obama is a secret Muslim.

TODD: Can you imagine supporting or being comfortable if a Muslim ever became president of the United States?

TRUMP:  can say that, you know, it’s something that at some point could happen. We’ll see. You know, it’s something that could happen. Would I be comfortable? I don’t know if we have to address it right now. But I think it is certainly something that could happen…I mean, some people have said it already happened, frankly. But of course you wouldn’t agree with that.

Well, there you go. Later on in the interview, Chuck wanted to know why Trump won’t concede that the President is a Christian who was born in the United States. The celebrity billionaire tried to deflect the question by saying he doesn’t talk about others faiths and he just isn’t that interested in the President’s birth certificate anymore. See, the person who claimed Barack Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii and said his investigators made some amazing discoveries and based his entire possible 2012 White House run on Obama being a foreigner now doesn’t want to talk about it because it “hasn’t been brought up for a very long time.”

Ladies and gentlemen, your current top Republican candidate for President of the United States.
