Bernie Sanders Chastises CNN And Rest Of Media For Not Focusing On Serious Issues

Shockingly, CNN actually had another Presidential candidate on for an interview not named Donald J. Trump. On the day Quinnipiac released a poll showing Bernie Sanders had pulled ahead of Hillary Clinton in Iowa, the independent Senator from Vermont sat down for a one-on-one interview with Wolf Blitzer. During the conversation, Sanders said that while he was stunned at his surge in recent polls, he feels it is due to his message resonating with disgruntled voters that are tired of establishment politicians as well as establishment media.

Over the past weeks, while still trailing Clinton in national polls by a significant margin, Sanders has pushed ahead in New Hampshire and appears well-positioned to hold his lead there for a while. By grabbing a one-point lead in Iowa in this latest poll, he is placing more and more pressure on Clinton as he is now forcing the former Secretary of State to focus more on these early states so as not to allow Sanders to gain momentum with Democratic voters later on in the primary.

Of course, despite Sanders climbing poll numbers and the huge crowds he’s pulling in campaign events all across the country — even deep red states — he has virtually been ignored by the mainstream media. Instead, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and other outlets would prefer to focus on Trump’s latest offensive remark or Clinton’s email server. Nate Silver at FiveThirtyEight highlighted stats from Yahoo News that show Trump has received four times more media coverage than Sanders. Clinton has received twice as much while even floundering GOP hopeful Jeb Bush has been featured significantly more.

Obviously, Sanders was well aware of this during his big midday CNN interview. While talking about how his message is resonating with voters, he hit Blitzer with this little bit of gold:

“By the way, and don’t get upset with me here, they’re getting upset with establishment media. They would rather see serious discussions on serious issues, rather than so much of what we see.”

Sanders might as well have said, “Stop fucking obsessing over every single fucking thing The Donald does or says and start fucking covering the actual news for once! FUCK!!!” It is sad that a person is speaking intelligently about substantive issues and policy solutions, drawing thousands of people everywhere he goes and running a very serious Presidential campaign, but can hardly get any media attention because he isn’t picking schoolyard fights or has some kind of make-believe scandal.
